I was sleeping on a hard waiting room floor, still eager to meet you even while gone away dreaming. I faintly heard the cry of a new life rushing into the world and jolted upright. No one else heard it, so we sat in silence lending our ears to another scream. Within the next hour one of your nurses came down the hall to bring us to you. Hours of anticipation had us caught in-between tired eyes and big, goofy smiles. We were all nervous.
You were beautiful.
